Open Season

These three recent shop launches cater to men who appreciate a life well lived, both at home and on the open road.

The Herman Pelle Bianca sofa, price upon request, from Natuzzi can be customized with several leather and upholstery options.

Italy’s largest and perhaps most prolific furniture brand, Natuzzi, is bringing its high-end, sleek leather sofas to Chicago with its recently opened showroom in Lincoln Park. The 8,400-square-foot space showcases the entire range of Natuzzi Italia products, which includes 44 customizable sofa designs plus multi-functional furnishings and accessories for the rest of the home. The family-run business has mastered timeless Italian design while also appealing to a tech-savvy generation, largely thanks to 28-year-old Pasquale Natuzzi Jr., who is becoming the new face of the brand. The harmonious new collection proves they offer all kinds of design solutions for living stylishly at home. 1845 N. Clybourn Ave.

If you live life in the fast lane—or want to look like you do—a visit to the Dainese Chicago store in Old Town is in order. This high-end Italian brand specializes in protective wear for all the riding sports (think moto, bike and horseback), providing head-to-toe protection of your most vulnerable parts. In celebration of its 45th anniversary, it has reimagined one of their earliest racing jacket designs using modern materials and technologies. The Toga72 ($700) keeps the legendary cut, but now conceals integrated, removable Pro-Armor protection at elbow and shoulder. The soft cowhide leather, here in white and red with black detail, is lined with printed cotton in homage to Dainese racing leathers of years past. Find fashion and utility, past and future, all in one winning piece. 1216 N. Clybourn Ave.

Co-owners Matthew Buccilla and Greg Lanier’s goal with Cowboys and Astronauts, Andersonville’s newest menswear destination, was to open a men’s lifestyle and supplies store that celebrates the well-lived life, featuring a carefully curated blend of apparel, accessories, home goods, grooming and gifts, most of it American-made. Case in point: this carry-anywhere rugged twill duffel bag ($395) from Filson—a highly durable piece that is rain-resistant, TSA carry-on compliant and flat-out attractive. Contrast bridle-leather handles with two-snap grip, an adjustable leather carrying strap and a rustproof brass-zip closure add to its versatility. Your weekend starts now. 1478 W. Summerdale Ave.
