Pam MacKinnon Three Can’t-Miss Local Shows

Three recommended local shows to see this holiday season.

Pam MacKinnon

American Conservatory Theater has a long history as a purveyor of experimental, high-minded theater. But as new artistic director Pam MacKinnon is about to find out, it may be best known for its annual production of A Christmas Carol (this year featuring 29 child actors). We asked MacKinnon which other local shows are on her holiday wish list.

Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon Holiday Extravaganza
“I’ve heard amazing stories of this revue—the hats alone are legendary.” through Dec. 31, Club Fugazi

ODC/Dance, The Velveteen Rabbit
“I took my six-year-old nephew to see an adaptation for his first play. He was elated by how this familiar and personal story was told.” Nov. 24–Dec. 9, YBCA Theater

Taylor Mac’s Holiday Sauce
“We both came up through the New York scene. I can’t wait to see how Mac takes the holidays head-on. I know it’ll be moving, spectacular, funny, and bold.” Nov. 21–Dec. 1, Curran
